I didn't recognize my appreciation for textiles until I started travelling. Like most of you reading this, I grew up surrounded by them – pillows under my head, carpets under my feet, and sheets on my bed. When I started travelling as a young adult, it was the textiles and the cultures from where they originate that often drew me to a place. Textiles express the individuality of a place unlike any other handcrafts; they contain messages, codes, and display evidence of traditional practice.
